KDE has a job opening for a Dairy Equipment Service Technician
Kuenzler’s Dairy Equipment, a local family-owned business, has served the northern NY dairy community for 30 plus years. We have an opening for a service technician who will provide dairy equipment service (including scheduled maintenance) to our customers in the area of our Watertown satellite office. This person will also participate in the installation of new milking facilities (parlors, robots) and other dairy-related equipment, primarily in the Watertown area, and may occasionally work elsewhere in our service area.
The ideal candidate will have an Associate’s Degree in electrical or electronic technology, and 5 years in a position with progressively increasing responsibility in the electrical/electronic field. Refrigeration certification/work experience is a plus. Experience working at a dairy farm is a plus. Ability to use testing, measuring and diagnostic devices to adjust, test, and repair equipment is required. Must be knowledgeable and skilled in the operation and diagnostics of programmable controllers, motors, power systems, and computer interfaces and automated control systems.
A good problem solving approach and an aptitude for learning in conjunction with a pleasant demeanor, a team oriented attitude and a customer service focus are mandatory. Must also be able to work independently to diagnose and repair equipment. Must be able to successfully complete employer-sponsored courses/training as assigned (may require travel). This is a full-time position that requires travel within Jefferson, Lewis, Franklin, and St. Lawrence counties. Work schedule is primarily days with some night, weekend and holiday on-call. Must have and maintain a NYS Driver’s License. A clean driving record for the past 5 years is required.
The ideal candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, Microsoft WORD and Excel, and general computer applications ability. Physical requirements include the ability to stand for long periods, bend, squat, and lift. Work may be performed inside or outside in very dirty, very hot and/or very cold conditions.
